A friend recently said to me:
The thing about photographing people is the people.
He meant, of course, that people make it difficult.
But all I could think was how I love the people.
Even the shy, awkward people. The quirky.
In fact, perhaps I love them best of all.
It's why speeches are my favourite part at weddings.
The lighting is almost always tricky, but the people are comfortable.
And you get to hear all the yummy, juicy bits about the bride and groom.
It's where all the love is at!
And, wherever there's love, that's where you'll find me.
Hanging out like a kid who heard their parents open a packet in the pantry
(you KNOW what I'm talking about!)
just waiting to gobble up a piece for myself.
And, seriously, don't even get me started on
my addiction to the smell of a newborn baby's head!
I get almost giddy after each wedding. Or spending time with a family.
Because I fall a little bit in love with everyone I photograph.
I can't help it. And can't believe I get to do this as my job.
